Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is your space to process life events and transitions, to better understand yourself and patterns in your life, to identify and work towards specific goals, and more. When we meet for individual therapy, I will begin by assessing your goals, concerns, strengths and preferences. Together we will create a plan to help you reach your goals in therapy including how often we will meet, how we will address any areas of concern, and how we will know that we are moving in the right direction. Individual therapy can be a brief, solutions-focused treatment or a long-term working relationship, depending on your goals.
Therapy is a collaborative process and I welcome feedback from my clients. You are the expert on your life, so you know if something is working for you or not. I have experience using many different evidence-based tools and approaches and have had the privilege of meeting with diverse clients, so if something we’re doing isn’t working for you, I’m ready to problem solve and offer different strategies.
I accept insurance (Aetna, Cigna, Optum), HSA/FSA or out-of-pocket payment. My out-of-pocket rate for an individual therapy session is $170, sliding scale starts at $80. Availability is currently limited and waitlist is open.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a non-pathologizing way of viewing and addressing behaviors, thoughts, feelings and inner conflicts. At some point, you might have engaged in a pattern that served you to a certain extent, and also caused pain or stress…think of perfectionism, substance abuse, overwork or avoidance. Rather than seeing these behaviors or feelings as something to be controlled, repressed or eliminated, they can be understood as coming from “parts” of oneself that are trying to help and protect the individual. In addition to having parts, all of us have a Self, filled with wonderful qualities such as curiosity, compassion and courage. IFS is a way to access this Self energy in order to understand, support and integrate one’s many parts and increase inner peace.
IFS has been shown in research to be helpful for addressing trauma, anxiety and more. It also works beautifully as a part of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), thanks to ketamine’s ability to help shift perspective and increase feelings of mindfulness and openness, which can make it easier to connect with one’s parts and Self.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine is a safe and legal medicine that has been found in research to be effective in treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma and other conditions. Ketamine is often provided in a medical setting as an infusion treatment that can provide rapid relief of symptoms, but in this setting it is usually provided without the support of a therapist. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, or KAP, maximizes the benefits of the neuroplasticity and rapid relief that comes from ketamine by combining it with the support of a trained and attuned therapist.
Your KAP treatment will begin with assessment by a medical professional who will rule out any contraindicated conditions and prescribe the medication to be taken in a therapy session. I can refer you to a trusted ketamine prescriber for this, or if you are receiving ketamine from another prescriber, I will coordinate with them with your consent. Before taking ketamine, we will discuss preparation and goals for KAP so you feel safe and comfortable to begin your journeys. KAP is typically a short-term and intensive part of therapy, usually provided twice weekly for 2-6 weeks. KAP is not usually covered by insurance; cost is $360 for a 2 hour session and sliding scale is available.
